DEV-LOGGING & WORDPRESS LAYOUT: HOW TO DO?

Your Animation page is where all your work in the Animation & Games lessons should go. you should have the following sections with clearly out lined headers:

  • Project Overview: (Here is where you will put all the outlines for your project. Such as project statement, pitch deck, elevator pitch etc…)
  • Research/Visual Study: (Here is where you will put all your research work. This includes the research set by me and the personal research you choose to do yourself.)
  • Classroom work: (Here is where you will put all your written and logical based work. This might include: game mechanics, game loops, scripts, story synopsis…)
  • Dev-log: (Here is where you will put all the Visual work you do for the outcome. This will include your assets, prototypes, playthroughs, and any sort of vis-dev.)
  • Outcome/Final Assets: (Here is where you will put your final outcome. This will either be a animation/animatic or a game prototype. Aswell, your final evaluation should go here too.)

Each task completed should have a clear title and explanation reflecting on it underneath. for example if a remote study task for the game Minecraft is set you should have a title along the lines of Minecraft study analysis, then the contents of the analysis underneath. make sure every piece of work is clearly shown presented and and clear.

Examples:

Devlogs:

Each week you will be required to have an up-to-date development log documenting exactly what you did during the week. you will need to answer in full detail the following questions each week:

1. What you did?

2. Why did you do it?

3. How you feel about it?

4. What could you have done differently?

5. How does this tie back into your project?

This needs to be a clean paragraph per week minimum of 200 words. As well as this, to achieve higher marks you will need to back this up with visual work. This needs to be progress so things like prototyping videos, works in progress, in software screenshots, asset annotating. And anything else you can think of that goes towards the progression of your project.

Each week should be clearly outlined with them having a title heading and the contents underneath.

Remote task:

For this week’s remote learning task, please set-up your BLOG page fully. Use the instruction video and help documents on the artwtc blog.

As well, please make a start on your dev-log, these will be checked weekly going forward so make sure you stay up to date with them.

Your dev-log week 1 should document your activities towards this game jam for the week including your participation in your group work as well as documented visual evidence towards this. Remember to answer the following questions each week. This can be done either in a written format or as a interview/ video dev-log style format.

The questions:

1. What you did?

2. Why did you do it?

3. How you feel about it?
